The U.S. government is spending far more than it takes in even before counting the massive cost of servicing its existing debt.
The U.S. has one of the worst primary deficits among advanced economies, & once you add roughly $1+ trillion in annual interest payments, the fiscal hole gets even bigger.
We are borrowing heavily just to run the government… & then borrowing even more to pay the interest on what we’ve already borrowed.
