"Did the top fall? Was he still in the dream world?" is really the least interesting question you could come away from a movie about shared, active dreaming with. A question about what factually happened to one character.

Inception doesn't invite reflection on the weirder elements of the human psyche. In fact, it avoids those elements entirely.
