A significant security vulnerability has been identified on the Provenance Blockchain, potentially exposing 82 mainnet asset accounts to unauthorized takeover risks. According to CryptoSlate, Trail of Bits has disclosed an authorization flaw that could have granted non-token holders administrative, minting, and withdrawal privileges for these accounts. Specifically, 74 "Marker" assets faced the risk of unauthorized token minting, and approximately $500,000 worth of HASH custodial assets could have been extracted. Security patches have since been implemented to address the exploitation vector for this vulnerability. At present, there is no evidence to suggest that the loophole was actively exploited.
