For college, I got a credit card with my kids names on it for emergencies. They took to calling it the company card. They have both been very responsible with it. I told them they could keep it for one year, post graduation, to give them time to build up an emergency fund. I extended this for my son so he can use it to help my sister and her leukemia stricken daughter, whose treatment is 6 blocks from him. I just got the bill and there was a huge charge on it from a town 2 hours away. 1/2
