This makes me think of a past discussion where I was saying that I don't believe in judging job applicants too strictly based on their education or other objective factors that you can readily see from their resume, because I think you can miss a lot of great people who have acquired great skills in less conventional or readily apparent ways. But at the same time, I fear relying too much on gut feelings from talking to candidates, because I'm afraid that gut feelings are far too susceptible to unconscious bias.
