In 2010, Gavin Andresen himself bought 10,000 BTC for about $50 and launched the famous Bitcoin Faucet, a website designed to introduce Bitcoin to the general public.
All you had to do was solve a captcha to receive 5 BTC for free.
In total, nearly 19,700 BTC were distributed via the faucet before it closed in 2012.
