I still don’t understand why this helps, unless it removes the payment charges - and why would these companies want to remove the payment charges?
If you want zero payment charges, we already have those in most enlightened democracies - UK, Canada, Australia, the Nordics… this announcement just talks about “faster” payments, which again isn’t an issue in these countries (they’re split-second). And a USD token means, for most countries in the world, a conversion from my currency to USD just to send it.
I can’t see how many of this is going to help the fundamental issue of micropayments.
