there is also a layer of music just below pop that is never the less not entirely underground. for example music that goes into movie and game soundtracks falls into this range. also dance club music.
in other words music that never plays on the radio, yet still reaches a large audience.
and below that of course there are many levels of underground-ness so to speak.
it's the same as with politics and social media.
guys like Fuentes are just below the level of somebody who would be allowed on TV yet are almost a household name. and then there are deeper and deeper levels until you go all the way to the bottom of the rabbit hole and find me LOL.
that doesn't mean the mainstream guys don't have their moments. Trump and Charlie Kirk both had theirs. Brilliant people. But things are heavily sanitized for the mainstream while in the underground anything goes.
