While there’s a decent metaphysical argument to be made for this, I’ve not really seen much basis for arguing that Christianity *predates* Civilization.
That said, as is the case with the Kievan Rus (and the Russian Empire that followed), Orthodox Christianity very much does possess the capacity to grow into a Civilization, where there was none prior.
