Hong Kong's stablecoin scene is developing with two main strategies. Anchor (HKDAP) targets institutional clients for cross-border settlement and RWA on-chain settlement, using a B2B2C model and 100% liquid asset backing. HSBC, conversely, will integrate its stablecoin directly into its retail apps (PayMe, HSBC HK App) for its existing customer base.
However, BlockSec has raised concerns about HKDAP's smart contract security on Ethereum, citing issues with KYC, governance, time-locking, and role separation. This highlights that beyond distribution, the security and compliance of underlying systems will be crucial for HKD stablecoins.
