That, plus the image based environment, leads to statements like this in Squeak By Example: "The image that you have been working with is a descendant of the
original Smalltalk-80 image created in the late 1970s. Some of these objects
have been around for decades!"
It's not that the code has been around that long, it's that literally, these objects have _existed_ in the memory of a Smalltalk VM image that long.
The whole thing is dizzying, but I'm very drawn to it.
