I've seen those. Most of the time you can create the sphere effect to any video with adobe after effects. There's tutorials on how to make sphere videos. I don't think they make a difference just more size of screen but if the camera & software stretches the video people can look odd.
My experience with a sphere movie was being in a dome & having my head pointed towards the ceiling which was a sphere.
