Just got back from #Supergirl.

Frustratingly mediocre is probably the best way to describe it.

Milly Alcock is a really fun version of her, and any problems with the film have nothing to do with her performance.

The film is just so dirty and gross. If there's a new scene on a new planet, or in yet another bar, or on a shuttle between planets: gross, dark, grungy. That's the palette. It makes the entire universe feel like a miserable ghetto. Even the flashbacks on Krypton feel so lacking in wonder. Just a brown and white yawn of a city.

The only other real "fun" is the handful of times Lobo shows up. Kind of a shame Jason Momoa waited all this time to play him and he's barely more than a shoe-horned in cameo. Still, he absolutely was born to play the role, so I'm glad he got his shot. Just wish there was more to it.

There's something missing from the film, and I can't put my finger on it. Doesn't feel like there's a lot of meat on the bone, so to speak? Maybe?

I just know that while I haven't yet read 'Woman of Tomorrow' yet, but I have a hard time believing what went on the screen captures what's in that book, if it's so beloved.

Again, none of this lies at Alcock's feet. She knocked it out of the park with what she was given. Just like Momoa, however, she deserves more.

It's unfortunate that my memories of this film will be "dark and brown grime".
