Bitcoin developer Paul Sztorc has announced his involvement in the creation of a new Bitcoin hard fork named "eCash," slated for an August launch. Bitcoin holders will receive eCash tokens on a 1:1 basis. The project's Layer 1 code is designed to remain compatible with Bitcoin Core and will activate BIP300/301 through CUSF. Additionally, eCash will introduce seven Drivechain second-layer networks supporting merged mining. Sztorc emphasized that, unlike the 2017 Bitcoin Cash (BCH) fork, eCash will not incorporate "Bitcoin" in its name. The project team has provided a four-month advance warning and will offer token splitting tools to ensure all initial transactions are replayed.
