I read a stat saying even though Sweden has excellent provision for both parents still only 15-20% of men take their full allowance mostly because of financial and cultural reasons like in the UK. In hetero couples if the men were already earning more than the women it doesn't make sense for families to take the financial hit, so because we don't have gender parity in pay and promotion then having children just widens the gap further once parental leave happens
