I'm pretty sure people higher up the foodchain and the ones coaching/supporting them know pretty well about bitcoin and what it is able to archive for the individual.
And if those signs (London denying gold to Venezuela, freezing Russian funds in Belgium, switzerland freezing accounts and so on) are not completely scripted and orchestrated those individuals will need it and use it when the time comes.
And to your point about centralizing power I think differently too. Those tendencies existed for quite a while now but the vultures are circling and younger power hungry individuals are ready to devour the fat old socialist institutions.
Of course I might be completely wrong since all this stuff is well above my paygrade, but my gut tingles and we'll see how this all turns out in a few decades.
