i would read them all. and keep them. because i want to know what they say and the psychology behind the choices, not just the perceived projection. on the other hand, some choose to make it into a different sort of practice. returning them. slowly. without reading most. making a point about what they reject for their own image, instead of learning about the reasons those decisions were made. i have historically read all book recommendations. i want to know the content to open new doors for discourse between the sender. education is more than content: it is interaction capability and scaffolded flexibility. not everyone you meet is able to operate at a language mastery level; it is your responsibility to be as fluid as possible to lift them up and find a way to give them a voice even in their limitation AND mitigate the damage to yourself while you assist them. if i as a jew send you a few scholarly books on judaic history and *you return them* instead of reading them - that tells me all i need to know.
we never return books; we give them a home.
