Just seen a friend. She depends on her PC for home shopping, comms, entertainment, etc.

She's gone to log in after switching it on and there's a message, saying her pin is corrupted, "click here to reset your pin".

She clicks the button, Microsoft says "here's the last two digits of your phone number, tell us the last four digits to confirm it's you".

They then say they're going to text her, so she can enter a code and choose a new PIN.

But no text ever comes.

Now, it sounds like a scam, it sounds like her PC has been corrupted and yet, it looks like it's genuine.

And if it's genuine, then she's utterly reliant on Microsoft allowing her access to her PC, which she needs, at any given time.

What an absurd situation.
