One aspect really bugs me re higher qualifications.
I did my degree at a poly. The quality and standard of the degree course I did was approved and monitored by the independent National Council for Academic Awards.
Modern universities set their own standards for their courses. This doesn't seem right to me (esdpecially when one sees the calibre of those graduating with [say] an #Oxbridge PPE).
There ought to be some external quality control, although I can foresee resistance to its introduction.
