Our kitty is only fed meat. Nothing from a can or a bag.
I mentioned this to a person that is a board member of a cat adoption org, and a senior cat caretaker at the local humane society. She was obvioisly upset by this and tried to tell me that we need to give him cat food, because it has taurine, which cats need.
Most (all?) cat foods are loaded with fillers and toxins, just like industrialized pre-packaged human food. One of the fillers is fiber, which absorbs taurine, limiting the uptake. In addition, when manufacturers cook the food, the taurine quantity and availability can be diminished.
Meanwhile, beef and chicken organs, along with muscle, provide plenty of taurine. Our cat was malnourished when he found us, and is now the healthiest looking cat I have ever seen. I'm sure we would get a major "stink-eye" if we put broccoli in his dish. 🤣
