Why does everyone I know seem anxious all the time?
Evolutionary psychology has an answer…
Humans evolved in hunter-gatherer societies & worked about 15–20 hours a week, outdoors, surrounded by community, with bursts of stress… not constant pressure
Today we have nonstop demands, information overload, artificial environments, long commutes, less sunlight, less nature, & weaker community bonds
It’s an evolutionary mismatch
Chronically elevated cortisol
Rising anxiety & depression
Maybe the problem isn’t us
Maybe it’s the world we built
