I had always thought that "sleep studies" were a scam because everyone I knew who had one ended up with CPAP. After years of snoring, my wife convinced me to get tested. Turned out that I routinely stopped breathing and my blood oxygen was dropping below 90%. Got a CPAP and HOLY FUCKING SHIT DO I FEEL GREAT.
