I've been running my own email servers for decades. I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. The inbound spam and phishing problems are immense, and getting email into the major services without false positive blocking is a nightmare. For that matter, most users could not get port 25 access from their ISPs.
Seriously I don't recommend even trying to do your own email servers.
