I’ve always liked the “bug” term 🪰. I find the origin funny, of an actual bug causing the problem. That moth had zero idea its death would make it famous among devs 😂 and Iike keeping some respect for our dead loved ones🪦

Jokes aside, when working on code that has been touched by lots of hands or old code you have to maintain, in many cases it’s not even you who made the mistake… so in that sense sometimes the blame can feel a bit external.

But, what I like the most about the “bug” term is that I genuinely think that software errors have a lot of similarities with bugs: they hide when you want to smash them 🫣, they’re experts at showing up in the most annoying situations 😤 (like when I turn the light off, I’m on my phone and a bug comes to visit my screen) and there are all kinds, some less scary 🐞 than others 🕷️
