- The power of openness is v limited: Digital power is too concentrated for openness to reduce it, building alternatives is not enough. Alternatives have to compete under the paradigms shaped by VC money + big tech: in social media, that means choosing between shouting at each other in a digital supermarket or in a digital Nazi bar.
- We need more collective narratives, e.g. solidarity clearly transcends national borders. Let's take platforms out of private hands into democratic governance.✊
