I am not using fiat shitcoins. I personally avoid USDT as much as possible, sometimes it is impossible to do so for a specific deal, especially for physical cash exchangers in Europe, but I do not like it. I am solely interested in sending and receiving Monero, as it has a social contract of equal access and fungibility. I don’t want to use anything else.

Invalid argument re: Tether, because it’s a crypto payment. It has additional gas fees. It should not beat Bitcoin on UX. It isn’t about UX. It is about that if a physical cash payment fails at an Eastern European physical street cash exchanger, there is threats of violence and screaming and it consumes an egregiously large amount of emotional bandwidth and time to deal with this shit. LN people know that the error rates are at least 1% at best, significantly more in the real world, and the average crypto exchanger in Europe does at least 100 transactions a day. They cannot tolerate a 1% failure rate.
The market has made it clear that the killer application for crypto was *remittances*, because Bitcoin was an order of magnitude both cheaper and faster than SWIFT and WU, and infinitely better for those that have access to neither. But the experience of Bitcoin for so many, largely as a result of LN apps that were perceived as Bitcoin, became so bad for so many years that people have switched away and it is very hard to get those of us who have done so back. Our business models cannot tolerate Bitcoin’s glaring problems. We can’t afford to be experimental users, it is too late to enter the market of crypto as an experimental product at this point. You are either reliable, proven infrastructure, or you are a shitcoin.
