Bucky update: he's feeling much better. It was an abscessed anal gland (ewww) that the vet tech cleared out. He is on pain meds and antibiotics. Thank you all for the good juju, it worked!
Me update: I have an MRI scheduled for the end of the month for my hip. The doctor will call a week later for next steps. He also called in a script for steroids that I'll pick up tomorrow.
