IMO, block lists are popular with anybody that hasn’t lost dozens or thousands of friends because some asshole had a grudge against someone. There is no remedy or recourse with these lists once you’ve been harmed by them. Blocking people is just not that hard and no one is ever really protected from triggers if they’re going to stay online.
