Isn't today the context of your OP? The texts are the same. The difference is mostly in culture and legal systems, as far as I can tell. We don't have a king dictating our religion, for example. Crusades aren't legal. Government can't enforce it. I'm speaking from a US perspective, but this seems true in most western countries these days.

But even comparing Jesus and Muhammad leaves me little choice but to choose Jesus, regardless of time period. But I also think his collectivist altruist views are destructive. I just think they are less so, and generally don't lead to as shitty of a culture.
