yes, the NHL hates us. We built an arena in 1987 to serve as a hockey first arena (also Basketball). But the NHL put in guarantees that we’d never get one. The team would have to pay the Blackhawks (not sure if it was annually or a one time shakedown) because MKE would be stealing from Chicago’s fan base, and also to a lesser extent from Minnesota’s.
So with those financial restrictions in place they pretty much guaranteed we’d never get a pro club.
