You've never eaten a choko?! I know there are a few people whose parents were scarred ( SCARRED!) by being forced to eat chokos, boiled, and covered in white sauce. So they never grew them or inflicted them on their kids.
My parents had this experience.
They also made a pact that they would never eat mashed potatoes, because they both had eaten mashed potatoes with almost every meal until they married. And Mum's job as soon as she got home from school was to get the spuds on.
I view chokos as free food, since once you've planted one here, they grow like weeds until the heavy frost.
Yesterday we picked 17. We gave away a boxful at the food kitchen /op shop up the hill the other day, and they were flying out the door before we left.
Air fryer roasted chokos are next level, like air fryer pumpkin. They develop sweet flavours, even the skins are delicious.
