My bombastic theory is that Trump is running a series of emergency economic levers to avoid presiding over a recession. First it was tariffs to force domestic production and supply chain reshoring. Courts start blocking them. Next came mass deportations, which would trigger massive enforcement spending and tighten labor markets. Judges slow that too. So the pivot becomes defense spending: burn through missiles, replenish stockpiles, and pump billions through the defense industrial base.
