The Italian Autistici/Inventati (A/I) hacktivist collective provides digital hosting services to like-minded parties.
They consider themselves to be antifascist, antiracist, antisexist and antimilitarist and co-operate with groups that share similar ideas.
Recently, the US Trump administration classified "A/I" as a "specially designated global terrorist" organization, alleging that they "services for Antifa cells and other violent far-left extremists". As a result, they lost their "autistici.org" domain (but retain the "inventati.org" domain) and their PayPal account, as the .ORG root, the overall DNS root, the main credit card companies and PSPs all reside in the US.
It's of course completely OK to disagree with IA's left-leaning and progressive views, but censorship harms us all.
This event raises concerns about online and digital freedom. These are a bunch of nerds running email servers, not jihadists.
I think government overreach, not online autists, are what we should fear.
