As a new age arrives where US defence guarantees (always worth less than assumed) have been withdrawn, the big Q. will be (as Labour are now asking): what do we cut if we are to put more money into defence?
To which there are two (interlinked) responses;
If we dismember our welfare state, then what exactly is it we're defending, other the the enclaves of privilege?
Its about time we took MMT seriously & reject the zero sum fiscal narrative on balancing the books
