Kurt mentioned that instead of using some machine learning to annotate/cluster package he sees the CRAN Task Views (CTV) as a better approach. He mentioned that only around 20% of packages are in a CTV. So expanding the coverage of CTV would help users (see slide 38 from: https://static.sched.com/hosted_files/userconf2024/41/user2024_CRAN.pdf).
Currently there are 44 CTV, but you can propose new, and see proposals/drafts via https://github.com/cran-task-views/ctv
