Since the advent of DNA testing, we've known that today's Ashkenazi Jews are a hybrid race, with about 60% Middle Eastern and 40% European ancestry on average. Mizrahi and Sephardic Jews are a little less European than that. Despite being hybrids, Jews are nearly 100% genetically distinguishable from Europeans.
