What accountability for participation in this oppression would look like in a free & fair society is not necessarily something we've seen modeled before.
But if we're talking about accountability for everyone who plays along with the violent authoritarians, it's probably going to need to be more about reparations & restorative justice than it is about locking up the baddies.
What does broad social & cultural accountability even look like? I don't know, but it's something we need to explore.
