Asia has significant coal reserves. In a world where the global supply chain is a yet again shown to be a deadly risk to nations, Asian nations are going to consider the option of fertilizer production from domestic or regional resources. China has a lot of coal for instance.
The takeaway in all this is volatility of supply is a great risk to national security. Individual nations are not going to simply take it if they see another option.
