i think it was epstein, not thiel, who said something about "return to tribalism" or similar. i have no idea if it was actually epstein's belief or just epstein's attempt to ingratiate himself to peter thiel by expressing views he thought thiel held, because epstein did that sort of chameleon-like switching up of what he claimed to be interested in basically constantly.

epstein also had a lot of communication with valar ventures, a thiel affiliated fund that invested in fintechs that epstein was an investor in.
