Unlike some other infrastructure projects, the Thames Tideway sewage tunnel in London has been completed on time & almost exactly on budget, majority funded via a surcharge on London water bills.
Perhaps key to the success of the project was that workers were all employed (no zero hour contracts) received significant training & were treated well, leading CEO Andy Mitchell to attribute much of the project's success to its employee relations!
Seems like a simple lesson!
