Can someone explain to me why it's a good idea to broadcast to the entire world that Bitcoin projects are vulnerable?

I think the effort is worthwhile. Why can't it just be done quietly and announced after the measures are in place? All this does is paint a big target on Bitcoin project's back for the benefit of creating new influencers to backfill the ones that are going down. This is god awful opsec in pursuit of PR and self aggrandizement.
