Yeah. Media in general is a cruel mistress.
On YouTube, the algo can take an idential video (literal copy/paste repost as a test or when I fell behind on recording) and swing it from 2k+ views to literally SIX... Same video, same time slot, same channel, same day of the week, 2k views difference.
Meanwhile on nostr, I feel like I'm not being throttled, but I am still just lost in the noise sometimes.
Anyone paying attention to my channel knows which I prefer (my YouTube vids all have my nostr link but not the other way around), but it doesn't change the calculus here.
Part of it is that I need to finish my single-take album and release it for streaming (I only have 1 or two songs up right now). Part of it is an issue with formats and event kinds. Part of it is me having certain redlines like not wanting to put into pay-to-play bits when I cannot guarantee any payment back. Etc.
And part of it is just that I work too much normal hours at the fiat mines to put in the time investment some people expect of me to have a "well mastered" final product.
Most of my stuff is "I'm doing it anyway for fun so why not record it"?
