⚡️💸 NEW - Anthropic accidentally sent a bill for… $16.6 million to a user of the free version.
A South Korean user was surprised to receive a $16.6 million bill from Anthropic, even though he was only using the free version of Claude and had never used the API. Even more surprising, the bill showed $1.67 million the day before, before increasing tenfold overnight.
Initially suspecting a phishing attempt, he eventually confirmed that the email and payment link did indeed come from Anthropic’s official domain. Fortunately, no funds were withdrawn: his bank automatically blocked the transaction due to the unusually high amount.
