In my religious circles growing up, people passed around "wisdom" about how important it was for men to be in charge, & since this conformed to what everyone was already conditioned to believe, it passed for a topic worthy of deep exploration, even though it's a bigoted idea based on nothing but the "logic" of patriarchy. It felt true, so it was true.
No one needed convincing. It was obviously a Deep, Important Truth.
