As I've seen with snaps, and now with flatpaks and gimp, you can't access the printer at all, or with limited functionality. As an artist, and since Gimp is an art/photo app, it has to give printing a priority. They need to either implement the portals API on flatpaks, or make their appimage their default offer (since appimages do access the full printer functionality). I personally print my art constantly.
