A simulation depicting how the flood disaster in Nepal may have unfolded:
A large section of a Himalayan glacier reportedly collapsed into the Lhende Khola on August 26, sending ice, rock, and soil into the river.
According to Nepali officials, the debris temporarily dammed the river and formed a lake. The natural dam later failed, releasing a massive surge of water downstream and sweeping away everything in its path.
