Back in '91, all of us chemists had to do our work on a couple of Macintosh SEs, with their limited RAM and 512 x 342 displays. I was doing statistical analysis and writing reports with multiple tables and charts on a machine that struggled with the load.
The front office staff had modern computers and big screens to write their memos.
(BTW, that company later included my data in a journal article and never credited me.)
