A friend of mine, now sadly deceased, used to work as a ranger at Alcatraz, which involved leading tours. He was a big favorite with the tourists, many of whom requested him on return visits. It took the Park Service a while to figure out that this was because he told more interesting stories than the other rangers because he just made stuff up. So they fired him, which was too bad, but I suppose there's something to be said for accuracy.
