unfortunately Ryanair are the only airline flying directly from my city to the airport closest to my mother.
Re this seat thing - before now, if you didn't pick any seats and left it until check in time, they would always put at least one parent with the kids anyway.
You do have to assume the booking flow is trying to fleece you, but they've been remarkably predictable and fine with us bringing vast amounts of child and baby gear for free (buggies, car seats, travel cots etc.).
