BREAKING: Proposed legislation to permit AT&T to end California
landlines has DIED for this session
The legislation apparently died in a State Senate committee by not being passed by the legislative deadline. Of course, it could be reintroduced in the next session, and the California Public Utilities Commission proceedings that could ultimately have the same result (regarding carrier of last resort, end of landlines, etc.) as the legislation are still in progress.
But for now this is a win for the good guys -- the people of California.
